Hey followers, check out this super interesting event happening soon! Make sure to copy the link below to RSVP!
What is UCSB’s role in promoting social justice, human, and environmental health? Join the UCSB Healthy Beverage Initiative Research Group (HBIRG) in discussing the beverage environment on campus and how sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) affect our long-term health. Guest speakers, Laura Schmidt (UCSF Professor of Health Policy) and Selena Melgoza and Leonela Leon (UCB Pour Out Pepsi Officers), will also be sharing their experiences with their campus’ Pouring Rights Contracts.
This discussion is to better understand how students engage and envision our beverage environment. Some questions we plan to ask are “what do you look for when buying a beverage?”, “what would you like to see more in regards to beverages sold on campus?” and “how should we move forward, as an institution, to prioritize human and environmental health and social equity?”
The event will be held over Zoom on October 22nd, 2020 from 4pm – 5pm. Please RSVP with this form to receive the Zoom link:
The form will be open until the day of the event!
