What can I do for students?
Hi, I’m Lili Hartounian, Assistant Director for Human Resources with Associated Students at Associated Students at UCSB. I oversee Human Resources operations for both career and student staff and supervise the HR & Payroll team. My work focuses on recruitment, onboarding, payroll support, employee relations, training, organizational development, and helping departments navigate university and A.S. policies and procedures.
I work closely with student leaders, staff, and campus partners to support a positive and collaborative work environment across A.S. If you have questions related to employment, hiring, onboarding, payroll, workplace processes, or professional development opportunities within A.S., I’m always happy to help or connect you with the right resource.
What other duties do I have?
In addition to overseeing Human Resources operations, I support strategic planning, organizational development, and internal operations initiatives across Associated Students at UCSB. I supervise a team of three within the HR & Payroll unit and provide leadership in areas including recruitment strategy, employee relations, onboarding and training programs, workplace accommodations, policy development, and process improvement. My role also includes collaborating with campus partners and student leadership on operational planning, organizational restructuring, classification and compensation reviews, and initiatives that strengthen departmental effectiveness and employee engagement. I work to ensure A.S. operations remain student-focused, compliant, collaborative, and adaptable to the evolving needs of the organization and campus community.

What can I do for students?
I am the supervisor for Department of Public Worms, a group of student staff dedicated to creating a closed loop food system on campus. We divert food waste from several sources on campus, use it to create rich compost, then use the compost to aide in producing food that at the Student Farm that is then donated to the A.S Food Bank. I am happy meet with students who are interested in learning more about the process or finding ways to get involved.

I am the primary point person for the building 324 and part of the A.S. Spaces committee. I am also part of the Chancellor’s Sustainability Committee.

What can I do for students?
Serves as Chief Operator bearing the legal responsibility to ensure that KCSB operates within the technical limits imposed by the FCC at both the
studio and broadcast locations. The KCSB Engineer maintains, repairs, installs, documents and inventories the entire system of complex electronic equipment necessary for the proper operation of a radio station. Responsible for developing, maintaining, repairing, installing and documenting approximately 20 radio station office computers used for production, news, web management, office software suite, video production, audio archiving, etc with an emphasis on open source software tools. The KCSB Engineer instructs students and non-student volunteers in the proper and acceptable procedure for effective and legal radio station operation and maintenance.

I am a Doctor of Social and Political Psychology (UCSB 2003), specialized in social science research methods and statistics, and Master of Journalism (UBC-Vancouver 2014), specialized in documentary films and data journalism of science, medicine, and creative cultures.
