    Executive Director
    Manages significant human, financial and physical resources for a complex department providing a large variety of services and a large variety of specializations. Responsible for all fiscal management, staff personnel, facilities and legal matters. The department is a complex student government organization with an annual budget of over $11 million and is comprised of elected student executive officers and Senate, appointed student boards and committees, advisory and administrative staff, business enterprises, and student services. Oversees the enforcement of all Associated Students policies and procedures. Oversees elections, authorizes and serves as principal advisor to all three branches of the student government, including elected student Executive Officers and Senate, Boards, committees, Commissions and Units; advises student boards and committees such as A.S. Judicial Council. Responsible for all procurement and contracts for the department. Teaches academic courses at the request of student leadership and facilitates the participation of elected Officials for the department of Political Science in developing and delivering course content as an experiential learning practice. Serves as advocate of Associated Students interests and concerns. Provides oversight of long-range and strategic planning for the department and ensures that student and staff goals are cohesive. Provides support to the AS Public Safety Commission’s UCIV Volunteer program to promote peaceful interactions between public safety officers and Isla Vista residents and visitors to the community, including engaging in de-escalation, conflict resolution, and bystander intervention. Recruits, onboards, trains, and supervises student staff and volunteers, support the leadership of student entities who do work in Isla Vista, and encourages collaborations with other entities. Develops and enhances resources for the community and when needed connects people with additional resources on campus and in the community.

          The Community Education Outreach Coordinator oversees advising, mentoring and education support services offered through Associated Students including America Reads/America Counts, CAB Family Literacy Project, SIRRC’s Guides Mentors, St. George Family Youth Center, IV Youth Projects and other tutoring programs as assigned. Develops curriculum and implements training for tutors, for the Student Government unit, and collaborates with other AS entities and UCSB departments to provide campus wide education.    The Coordinator focuses on expanding, centralizing, evaluating, and documenting the A.S. advising, tutoring and mentoring efforts in Santa Barbara County. Responsible for providing tutors with skills to ensure literacy and math competency for the students they tutor and additional support for students for whom English is a second language. Provides programmatic, advising, and evaluation support for students and staff coordinating CAB Alternative Break travel and other volunteer opportunities.

          Applies professional concepts and skills to support educational initiatives and multi-culturally relevant approaches to the planning, coordination and implementation of sustainability and philanthropic efforts for 4-6 A.S. environmentally-focused boards and committees including Bike Committee, Coastal Fund, Environmental Affairs Board, Environmental Justice Alliance and any other board, committee, or special project concerning the environment.

          Responsible for an aggregate annual budget of $600,000. Drawing on current best practices within the field, provides expert advice and training to staff and students on environmental and social justice topics and issues, philanthropic best practices, community organizing, coalition building, project management, and group facilitation for a variety of A.S. and campus-wide efforts.

          Establishes and maintains collaborative partnerships and issue-based coalitions of students, community organizations and governmental agencies. Acts as department liaison to campus sustainability network and administration to guide decision making, maintain communication and avoid duplication of efforts.

          Facilitates student development and leadership, and serves as an informational source on University and A.S. policies and procedures. Researches emerging issues and topics as needed.

          The Bike Committee designs and funds improvements to campus bike parking and builds new campus bike paths, improves and resurfaces existing campus bikeways, and works to increase student, staff, faculty, and administration awareness, appreciation and use of campus bike system. Coastal Fund connects people and the environment by allocating funds to programs that celebrate, explore, and protect the coastal ecosystems in and around the University of California, Santa Barbara. The Environmental Affairs Board promotes environmental, social, political, and economic sustainability by coordinating with students and other stakeholders to advocate for and institutionalize improvements to environmental outcomes at the individual, local, national and global level.

          The Environmental Justice Alliance amplifies the awareness of and action towards environmental justice and

          encourages intersectional awareness and inclusion within the environmental movement.

          KCSB Engineer Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director for Independent Media, the KCSB Engineer bears the legal responsibility of Chief Operator to ensure that KCSB broadcasts within the technical limits imposed by the FCC. The CE maintains, repairs, installs, documents and inventories the entire system of complex hardware/software and electronic equipment necessary for the proper operation of a radio station including the tower at the Broadcast Peak transmitter site.         Under General Direction, the Assistant Director for Technology is responsible for leadership, management, collaboration, and communication for Associated Students’ technological infrastructure. Oversees computer, web, network, server, and strategic technical support/policy for a department of 30+ staff, hundreds of student staff/volunteers/officials in 6 separate locations (including Isla Vista). Manages the technical needs and allocation of resources to an eclectic set of services, including a bicycle repair shop, environmental groups, a food bank, elected officials, and several computer labs. Advanced problem-solving for issues in a uniquely structured and operating department. Establishes priorities and resource allocation of team members, student dollars, and university assets.

        Leads the web development team to design, implement and administer department and student group websites and unique applications. Manages and coordinates the execution of the campus-wide elections process. Brings together multiple departments for campus-wide ballot initiatives and candidates into a single process. Primary responsibility for campus Events/Ticketing system that involves coordinating networking hardware in multiple buildings around campus.

Bike Shop Lead Mechanic – Limited Appt

Under the general supervision of the Bike Shop Coordinator, the Lead Mechanic will be responsible for organizing the day to day technical and repair aspects with the student mechanics of the A.S. Bike Shop. The Lead Mechanic implements the training for student employees, outlined in the AS Bike Shop training manual, to student employees for the repair and maintenance of a wide range of bicycle types and other rolling stock. Responsible for ensuring staff’s adherence to safety standards in all repair procedures. Will endeavor to maintain the A.S. Bike Shop in accordance with its mission statement to provide high quality bicycle repair and safety education to the students, faculty, and staff of UCSB.

Information Technology Administrator

Under the Direction of the Associate Director of Technology & Strategic Communications, the Information Technology Administrator is responsible for the development, installation, configuration, maintenance and system integrity of the Associated Students’ servers and hosted services. Recommends technical solutions for specialized technical and communication projects in a complex and eclectic environment. Provides second tier troubleshooting and maintenance of primarily MacOS based desktop systems. May assist in software/hardware training for students and staff.

Web Developer

The Associated Students (AS) of the University of California, Santa Barbara is a non-profit organization and a department of the UCSB campus, funded by undergraduate student fees. Through elected student positions and appointments we voice student concerns and express student opinion to the UCSB administration, UC system, our community, and state and local governments. We have dozens of boards, committees, and commissions that are organized and funded through AS to enrich student life and give students services and opportunities not offered by the administration. HR and Payroll Analyst

Establishes and implements procedures for the Community Financial Fund. Provides training in financial literacy, coordinates grants and oversees loans, serves as liaison with the Financial Aid office and advises students on the Community Financial Fund Committee. Provides guidance and counsel to Business and Finance Committee members in their responsibility to properly advise A.S. organizations and student groups. Assists Business and Finance Committee chair in training students to present workshops regarding the expenditure of funds, financial policies and administrative procedures. Conducts workshops for A.S. staff, A.S. Boards and Committees and student organizations as needed to include information on all A.S. Financial Policies and University Policies and Procedures. Basic Needs Resource: Connects students with the appropriate basic needs resources on- and off-campus, serving as the liaison to AS and community resources.
