According to UCSB Student Health, the actual number of active COVID-19 cases in Isla Vista is close to 100. The SB County Public Health status will shortly reflect these numbers in their reports as well. Please have a fun and SAFE Halloweekend!🌙👻

Pete Davidson has quickly become the comedian of a generation. The comedian, actor, writer, and producer first tried stand-up at the age of 16 after being dared by his friends to take the stage at a bowling alley in his hometown of Staten Island– and the rest is history. After dropping out of college to pursue a career in comedy, Davidson went straight to work, molding himself into the man we all know and love. Following stints on MTV’s ‘Guy Code’ and Nick Cannon’s ‘Wild ‘N Out’ in 2013, Saturday Night Live cast member Bill Hader dropped Davidson’s name to SNL producer, Lorne Michaels, who invited Davidson to audition for the show. In 2014, Davidson joined the cast of SNL, making history as the first cast member to be born in the 1990s and one of the youngest people to join the cast ever. Davidson went on to participate in the Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber in 2015, where he was lauded for his performance. In 2016, Davidson was featured in Forbes magazine’s 30 under 30, and his first standup with Comedy Central, ‘Pete Davidson: SMD’ was released. Following this, Davidson’s edgy humor and risky takes continued to yield big rewards for him. In January 2019, Davidson joined comedic giant John Mulaney for a limited comedy tour of the northeast called “Sundays with Pete and John”. Most recently Davidson found success in the release of his film, ‘The King of Staten Island’, which he starred in and co-wrote with the film’s director Judd Apatow.
Alex Moffat is a NY based actor, writer, and Saturday Night Live cast member. Moffat was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois where he performed regularly at iO and The Annoyance Theater as he came up in comedy. He joined the cast of SNL in 2016 and has since been praised for his impressions of Eric Trump and Mark Zuckerberg, as well as for his original characters like ‘Guy Who Just Bought a Boat’.

It’s spooky season! Celebrate Halloween with performances from Gunna and Omar Apollo this Saturday, October 31st at 9 PM (PST).
A rap mainstay, Gunna is a well established artist among trap listeners. From his beginnings in music at the age of 15 to his #1 sophomore album Wunna, it’s clear that his grind and determination has put him on the path to musical greatness. Rapper and mentor Young Thug saw his potential early, featuring him in numerous songs before releasing the first of the Drip Season and Drip or Drown mixtapes through his YSL label. In addition to popular solo projects, collaborations with Lil Baby like the platinum-certified 2018 mixtape Drip Harder nabbed them a #4 debut on the Billboard 200 charts with popular singles like “Drip Too Hard” and “Close Friends.” His most recent project, Wunna, was released earlier this year, debuting at the top of the Billboard 200 with features from rap heavyweights like Lil Uzi Vert, Travis Scott, Future, Young Thug, and Roddy Ricch. We hope you join us for this exclusive and highly-awaited Delirium performance!
Omar Apolonio Velasco, better known as Omar Apollo, is an up-and-coming Mexican-American singer that’s paving his own way to stardom. Raised on artists like D’Angelo, Los Panchos, and Paul Simon, the 23 year-old performer started his journey by learning how to play the guitar from Youtube tutorials and practicing at his local church. He began posting his songs to Soundcloud in 2016, but his career skyrocketed once he uploaded his hit single “Ugotme” onto Spotify. The song was picked up by the streaming platform’s Fresh Finds playlist and quickly shot up to 20,000 streams per day. Since his big break, the bedroom pop and R&B artist has embarked on his own sold-out tour in 2019 while frequently collaborating with musicians like Dominic Fike, Still Woozy and Kenny Beats. His Delirium performance is gonna be one you don’t want to miss!

As October comes to a close, we here at Coastal Fund want to recognize the important part native peoples of the Chumash Nation have in caring for our coasts. Long before anyone else was even considering the idea of stewardship, the Chumash held deep ties with the coast, living in harmony with it as it provided them with food, transportation, and many other things integral to life.
The Chumash who inhabited what are now known as the Channel Islands were one tribe to use tomol boats to travel between the mainland and islands. They utilized the oil that seeps up from underground to create a water proof seal around the boats. While tomol remains the oldest example ocean-going water craft in North America, it is still used by Chumash across Southern California today in races and ocean crossings. It is one way Chumash people today carry on the traditions of their ancestors.
