It’s our highest priority to aid students during these times of uncertainty and fear. We also kindly ask everyone to remain positive and compassionate as we face these days ahead.

SLS…California Spiny Lobster! Chances are, if you’ve been in the waters around the SB coast, you’ve seen a California Spiny Lobster, aka Panulirus interruptus. They can be seen at relatively shallow depths within intertidal and subtidal communities. Seeing as how they are highly prized targets for fisherman and divers, most of these lobsters do not live longer than 5-7 years before being caught. We know it might be difficult to get out there to go see some right now, but we’ll be sure to keep bringing sea life spotlight to your timeline right now!

A.S. Elections BoardApril 4 at 2:43 PM ·
Quick Update:

Yesterday, the AS Elections Board motioned for a contingency plan in the event that the 20% voter threshold is not met.

If the 20% voter threshold is met at 4/23 @4pm (Thursday, Week 4), thus constituting a valid election, then voting ends as scheduled.

The election will be extended to 4/29 (Wednesday, Week 5) only if the 20% voter threshold is NOT met on 4/23 @4pm.

During elections week, the AS Elections Board will provide turnout updates on this Facebook page after 4pm daily.

To clarify: the voter threshold is a representation of the MINIMUM turnout requirement among UCSB’s student body. UCSB’s AS Elections have a history of the highest voter turnout among all the UCs by far, and we have ended with a turnout far over 20% in recent years. Even though it will certainly be different this year in light of virtual campaigning, we’d like to remind everyone that Elections are still a team effort. Let’s work together to continue setting records.
