We Remember: A Candlelight Vigil for the Community
Tuesday, May 23 at 7 PM – 9 PM
Anisqovo Park

Isla Vista experienced a tragedy on May 23, 2014. Our community came together to heal, comfort each other, and pay tribute to those we lost. Three years later, we will remember the lives lost, the community we rebuilt together, and the pride we have for our incredibly resilient home of Isla Vista.

A limited number of candles will be provided, but you are highly encouraged to bring your own if possible. Security and mental health professionals will be on site. We request privacy and courtesy for those in mourning.

Please remember this is a time to reflect, honor, and celebrate the lives of those we have lost. Be respectful of the victims and of those who survive them.

Visit this event for information on additional memorial events taking place – We Remember: May 23 Memorial Events

Special thanks to the families of the victims, UCSB Associated Students Office of the President, Office of the External Vice President for Local Affairs (EVPLA), AS Program Board, UCSB Office of Student Life, Isla Vista Recreation & Park District, Blunite, UCSB Alcohol & Drug Program, and CAPS for their support on this event.

From UCSB Library
In response to a request from Associated Students – UCSB we have now activated the elevator floor sounder inside the Ocean Side elevators to aid our blind and visually impaired students, faculty, staff and patrons. Working with our elevator tech company we were able to identify then program Ocean Side Elevators 1, 2, and 3 to make a bell tone at each floor as the cars ascend and descend the 8-story building.
