From President Austin Hechler:
“No one should have to compromise their education because they think they can’t go to class.”
I am so elated to announce the launch of GauchoRide, a pilot program for mobility challenged students at UCSB. Associated Students – UCSB has decided to partner with Lyft in order to provide this service to our student body.
Starting Monday, if you or one of your friends is having trouble getting to campus, you can bring a doctors note to UCSB Disabled Students Program, on the second floor in the SRB, and see if you’re eligible for the program. Through this pilot program we hope to produce a sustainable solution for students who are temporarily or permanently disabled.
I want to thank everyone who has played a role in helping us get this program off the ground. Especially Jerel Constantino, who picked me up every time bureaucracy pushed me down. This is just the beginning. Together lets #ChangeTheCurrent
