UCSB TV- HEADLINES

Are you an undergraduate student with an interest in BROADCAST JOURNALISM or FILMING/ EDITING?

UCSB’s Creative Media Unit is excited to introduce UCSB TV –HEADLINES, a new weekly broadcast produced by students. These weekly visual announcements will update viewers about upcoming events such as arts, lectures, concerts, etc., promote stories from other UCSB media outlets, give updates on Gaucho sporting event results, and advertise upcoming sporting events.

We are looking for 3 student journalists with experience and confidence in front of an audience/camera, 2 film/editing students, and 1 assistant producer who is organized and interested in production and social media marketing.

All relevant updates for each week will be compiled into regular, short episodes presented by student journalists and filmed/edited by student videographers.

UCSB TV- HEADLINES has 6 honoraria earning positions open for applications!

If selected for a position this is a two quarter commitment (W17 & S17) and applicants must be available every Tuesday from 2:00-4:00PM, during Winter Quarter, for production.

With the departure of Tuyen Nguyen, Mathew Norton, the Assistant Director for Business Services for Associated Students will oversee the Associated Students Food Bank along with Breanna Jones, Chair of the Associated Students Committee until the Food Bank Coordinator position is filled.

In an effort to demonstrate our commitment to an inclusive campus, the Campus Community Council has printed t-shirts with the messages that read “Respect is not Radical” and “Exclusion is Ignorance.” The t-shirts also include the #IHeartUCSB and #HateFreeUCSB hashtags.

These t-shirts will be available today, Friday January 13th, at Associated Students Ticket Office (UCEN Rm. 1535, across from Corwin Pavilion). T-shirts are free for students (with a valid undergraduate or graduate student ID). We hope you will join us in wearing the t-shirts to increase visibility of UCSB’s values of inclusion and diversity.

Google+: Have an Idea to enhance sustainability at UCSB? If so, apply for a grant from the UCSB Green Initiative Fund (TGIF). The 2016-17 Application period now open until Friday, February 6th, 2017

TGIF is a student-governed grant supported by a $3.47 lock-in fee that every UCSB undergraduate and graduate student pays each quarter. It raises over $170,000 per year to fund projects that reduce UCSB’s impact on the environment. Any UCSB student, staff, or faculty member is eligible to apply for funding for their projects. Ideal projects will show a quantifiable change (energy, waste, water reduction, etc.) while also educating the campus community.
