CAB is dedicated to enhancing the education experi

CAB is dedicated to enhancing the education experience of all UCSB students by providing information, funding, and easy access to community service work. We host and support a wide range of projects and community programs, seeking to augment classroom experiences, create opportunities for career exploration, connect UCSB to the community in a meaningful way, and promote the ethics of public service.

Some of their recent major achievements include:
* ��Being awarded Outstanding BCU for Representation to Marginalized Communities nominated by last year’s AS President and approved by AS Senate Committee.
* ��Planning and funding a volunteer trip to New Orleans, Louisiana, where a group of UCSB students were able to immerse themselves in the community and give back in a variety of service-oriented activities.

Current internal initiatives underway
Beyond providing necessary funding for other organizations serving the community, each individual coordinator has been working hard on their own internal initiatives! Our Senior Citizen Coordinator, Dee Saenz has been working hard to create events that serve our local senior neighbors at Friendship Manor. Our Alt-break Coordinators Apphia Tran and Eric Perez are planning out our Winter 2026 Alternative Break Trip (all-expenses-paid volunteer trip for UCSB students). Our FLP coordinators, Galilea Vivar and Olivia Stimson, are learning and implementing a new volunteer registration form to continue creating a safe, fun, and welcoming environment for volunteers at our local K-12th schools. Across the board our members are beginning new initiatives and continuing ones that will have a meaningful impact on communities both on and off campus!

We want all students to know that community service makes the world go round! It is so important to give back to our community when possible. We aim to make community service as accessible and beneficial as possible not only for those we serve, but for our amazing volunteers as well. If you ever need assistance with getting involved and finding opportunities tailored to your skills and interests, reach out.

Meet Suyan, your Student Advocate General!

You can bet that the question Suyan gets asked the most as SAG is, “So, what do you do?” The SAG directs the casework and advocacy activities of the Office of the Student Advocate (@UCSBOSA), a non-partisan branch of the Associated Students that provides support to students accused of violating the University Code of Student Conduct.

Suyan is a senior who has a double-major in history of public policy & law and sociology. She has been an integral member of OSA since 2023 and has played a major role in restructuring the office to train more caseworkers and to offer more language options for casework. Suyan wishes to see the efforts of her office passed down to future generations of advocates through institutionalization. This year, Suyan is also looking forward to educating more students about OSA as a resource and to furthering her initiative of language accessibility to University policy.
