2004 Spring General
Election Supplement

External Vice President, Statewide

candidate
Andrew Thomas - Student Unity Now

Go Gauchos!! That's the message I wish to bring to Sacramento. The office of Statewide Affairs is a vital asset to the representation of your rights, your opinions, and your school. The UC Regents, one of the institutions that determine the direction of your money, your education, and your experience at UCSB, has increased student fees and tuition for every Gaucho and reduced or eliminated vital services like student outreach and scholarships. UCSB students deserve to have a say in where their money goes and why. And this is my mission- to bring to you sincere and loyal representation of your interests and make sure your voice is heard above the din of bureaucratic penny-pinching. My office will work with the Regents to ensure that they start responding to the interests of Gauchos. I will work for your desire to see greener buildings on all UC campuses, and I will push for system-wide implementation and use of environmentally friendly energy resources. I will fight for support from the state for important interest groups representing women, minorities, queer, and other student groups that deserve a strong champion of Gaucho diversity. As an athlete, an IV tenant and a student, I feel that I have worked with a diverse group of students, with a wide range of concerns that I will address at the state level through the UC Student Association. Most importantly, I will make myself available to hear your concerns, grievances, and wants. I want to bring everyone's voice together to give UCSB a powerful influence in statewide affairs. candidate
Felicia Cruz - Students' Party

My name is Felicia Cruz and I am STUDENTS' PARTY candidate for External Vice President of Statewide Affairs (EVPSA). If elected, I will ensure that our voice is heard at a statewide and national level. My involvement in Associated Students has given me the experience needed to handle the jobs and duties required of EVPSA. I am currently a Representative at Large elected to Associated Students Legislative Council. Through this I have become greatly involved in Student Commission on Racial Equality and Student Lobby. As a woman and as a person that was once physically disabled I am committed to the issues of these communities. I believe that our student voice is essential at a statewide level but in order to do this we must coordinate all students dissatisfied with the status quo. Furthermore, we must continue to pursue and ensure that our demands are met on our campus by the UC Regents. Currently, I have been the forerunner of the campaign against OSL's Parental Notification policy. Not only I but also STUDENTS' PARTY is greatly committed to seeing this policy eradicated. We must continue to hold rallies and lobby our Regents but at the same time develop plans that offer an alternative solution to the problems we are addressing. A Vote for STUDENTS' PARTY is a Vote for You. Felicia Cruz for External Vice President of Statewide Affairs. Vote Students' Party.
