General Tips
If you have a party, know who your guests are:
- Check your lease. Some leases have restrictions for Halloween weekend, including no parties, no kegs, no overnight guests.
- There are no overnight guests allowed in any UCSB residence halls: beginning 5 PM Thursday, October 29, 2009 though 12 NOON, Sunday, November 1, 2009.
- If your friends have been drinking, check on them and stay with them if they need help.
- Don’t leave a friend stranded. Call for a CSO escort at 893-2000 on campus and in IV.
- Know what’s legal and what’s illegal: Know The Law
- Festival ordinance is in effect from Monday, October 26, 2009 through Wednesday, November 4, 2009 beginning at 6pm each night and ending at 7am the following day – this means no live or recorded music can be heard outside your apartment/house.
What To Do If…
- …your car is towed: Visit the Isla Vista Foot Patrol to find which towing company has possession of your vehicle
- …your friend has alcohol poisioning: Call 911; keep the individual on their side and watch them until emergency medical services arrive. Please do not disturb the medic tents throughout Isla Vista.
- …you or a friend gets arrested or cited: Visit the AS Legal Resource Center (located at 6550 Pardall #B, above Grafikart) for legal advice
- …your friend is sexually assaulted: click here

Signs of alcohol poisoning:
- Person cannot be awakened
- Cold, clammy, or bluish skin
- Breathing is slow or irregular
- Vomiting while passed out
- What to do:
- Turn the victim on his/her side to prevent choking in case of vomiting.
- GET HELP AND CALL 911. This can save a life!
