Recognition
Courtney Cervantes
This summer’s selected volunteer is very deserving of recognition. Courtney Cervantes is not only an office worker for UCSB’s Community Affairs Board, but also a dedicated volunteer serving the Santa Barbara area. Last year, Courtney acted as a CAB leader and is known around the office for always offering a kind word and a helping hand. Most recently, Courtney took on quite the volunteer project, as she gave a week of her time and efforts working at Camp Shooting Star, a summer camp for autistic children run by former CAB Chair Cassidy Zanko. Courtney acted as a one-on-one counselor, and could often be seen playing on the tire swing with the children or taking on all different kinds of projects, all the while forming a lasting bond with her camper. She took on the challenge of working with autistic children, and worked through any frustration or fatigue with a smile on her face. Courtney’s effervescent personality and perpetual dedication to helping others has made her CAB’s selected volunteer for the summer. Congratulations, Courtney, and thank you for all that you do!
