History
1955
CAB began and was originally known as the Charities Committee. Students were assigned to work on community service projects.
1968
CAB became a recognized Associate Students Board known as The Community Aid Board.
1970
CAB changed its name to the current Community Affairs Board and became the largest board of the AS Legislative Council.
Today
Campus programs which began in CAB are now independent organizations such as CalPIRG and La Escuelita. CAB is now a full-service “Volunteer Action Center” for UCSB students, faculty, staff and the community.
